Baby Stuff

Well, we registered this weekend! (at Target and Babies R Us) I must admit, I’ve been excited about registering for a while now.  I’ve been busy reading baby registry advice, looking up product reviews, and asking moms I know what they thought I would need.  I had my list all ready of items I’d decided were well reviewed necessities or luxuries, but I’m sure I forgot a few things in my eagerness to get to the business of imaginary shopping.  Feel free to let me know, if you have any advice for me! 🙂

Registering meant that we had to make the decision about colors/themes of the baby’s room.  A decision I have been putting off for a while because I keep changing my mind about what I want.  I went back and forth for a while on whether I wanted red and black for my little ladybug or some variation of green and yellow or maybe something decidedly girly.  But now I’ve decided: I’ve chosen green and brown with yellow accents for the Little Miss’ room.  And there is no theme other than the color.  I do have a tree mural planned for her room, but I want her room to be eclectic, not centered around a particular theme.  It’ll be a while before her room is ready since we’re starting to remodel upstairs now, but I’m looking forward to it.

Some items that I am particularly excited about are the items that align with the ideals of parenting in which I am interested, including babywearing and co-sleeping.  I registered at Target for a hotsling, which is a comfortable and stylish way to wear a baby (newborn through toddler).  At Babies R Us, we registered for the Arm’s Reach Co-Sleeper.  I like the idea of having the baby close at night, especially when we’re nursing, and the co-sleeper style bassinet seems like the perfect option for our family.

We still have decisions to make about nursery furtniture, but we have plenty of time for that…
